October, 2020

The waves continue, anger, sadness, anger
Momentarily imperceptible but lingering stabs of pain
It hurts all over, under, inside, around

We bend so far our backs almost break
We negotiate with pain till it’s all too much to bear
We raise our heads just a little but even that is too much

The wickedness of the wicked seeks to suppress
Cutting off raised heads, reminding us of “our place”
BUT we have a voice, we’ve heard it, the loud rumble of unity

We ask that the land join us in revolt
Vomiting up the blood of human sacrifice, drowning the peace of the wicked
Scalding the feet of the oppressors

We ask that the divine nature give new strength to our spirits
Enabling us to resist even when it breaks us
Strengthening us as we refuse to surrender to the evil that threatens to engulf us

May the balm of grace soothe our throbbing ache
And when the fog clears, may our eyes find warm points of focus, catching rays of endless light
May we find ways to move forward through it all
